The Last Time I Saw You

I remember the last time I saw you

It was just after 8 pm and my husband was in the living room watching soccer

“Let’s go out for a walk  Adaeze, I’ve missed you”

You had been visiting a lot more,

It was very unusual but I was glad to have a companion,

So we went out, we made the bed seem like I was still there,

It was so good that I could have sworn my body was still there,

We walked forever, on a winding road that I had never seen,

As we walked, we met a friend of yours,

I had a discussion about my inability to produce children,

I also spoke about how impossible it was to retain wealth in my family.

My husband and I worked all the time and were still poor, I was a nobody, I had been ostracised by my people

You and your friend played it off,

You told me that pregnancy was not a big issue and that success came to all who were patient,

I remember thinking you were a little crazy, you laughed at me a lot.

At the end of the road, there was a little garden, the most beautiful garden ever.

I don’t remember much after that, I think I fell asleep on the grass,

I woke up in my house beside my husband.

You didn’t come to visit that night, or the nights after that.

Three weeks after I last saw you, I found out I was pregnant with twins,

Four weeks after that, my husband and I got promoted at our individual workplaces

I think you and you friend had something to do with it.

I’ll never know for sure, but I’ll never forget you.

Hey, so this is my day three in the seven days of writing. If you enjoyed reading this don’t forget to like, and share and re-share! I would love to hear your feedback, you can always comment or message me privately.

P.S. I really don’t know how I’m still pushing, I’m tired, who knew writing was so hard?? Well I’ll see you lovelies tomorrow, Ciao.
