The New Workout Plan

Hey everyone! How are y’all doing? I hope everyone is well, exam season is around the corner, not excited for that.

It’s snowing a lot more in Canada, which means my body wants to hibernate instead of going to school, or doing anything productive, which is why I’m writing this post. See I’ve been having this on and off fling with the gym for almost 3 years now, we get together and break up then back together, then I take a break and it goes on like that. This could be because I’m lazy, or maybe I just see results and say oh well.

Anyways, since a new year is coming around and every year I look back on my actions and life choices, I decided to analyze my relationship with the gym and exercising (also a lot of people have said they wanted be to talk about being fit).

The first question I asked myself is why do I exercise? And I’m really happy to say that I exercise for myself, not because I want to look a certain way or I read that it makes me more productive or because I heard that with my metabolism will slow down. Nope I do it all for me.

I think that’s the most important thing about exercising. I know a lot of people, including myself who have started an exercise plan, or maybe a diet plan, taken a tea, and all the other weight-loss fads you can think off because of an insecurity, to get a boy or girl, or because they’re envious of someone else, usually someone on the internet. Now you will see changes in you body, but you’ll never be satisfied, you’ll always find a new problem with your body, and that’s no way to live life.

You have to say to yourself,” I’m doing this for me, because I want to be healthy,” not because of some silly trend you want to jump on. Okay?

Once you get that down it’ll be easier for you to push yourself, you’ll be able to draw up plans, set goals and achieve them, and you’ll feel good every time you go to the gym, the gym isn’t a chore. It isn’t something you should have to force yourself to do, but if you’re not doing it for yourself, you might end up doing that.

So if you want to start going to the gym, or you want to pick up yoga, start swimming, or however you want to exercise. Ask yourself “Why do I want to pick up this activity?” If it is because of some outside force, you probably need to stop, take a step back and reconsider. Remember, even though it is difficult to exercise and your body will fight you, you should still be able to have fun while you exercise. If you’re exercising without putting yourself first, you won’t have fun.
